March 6-8: what to do/see/eat/drink this weekend in toronto

Happy Friday everyone! I can’t believe it’s the weekend already, the first full weekend in March! Here’s some things going on this weekend.

Do: The TO Sketch Fest began yesterday and runs until the 15th. Tickets start at $10 at shows in multiple venues. The event is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary with dozens of shows happening over the 10 days.

See: This weekend is the closing weekend of Obsidian Theatre’s show “The Wild Party“. Unfortunately, I missed this production but had a great time when I saw their production of The Mountaintop a few months ago. Tickets are available for shows at the Berkeley Theatre.

Eat/Drink: This weekend is the Toronto Sushi Festival. Early bird tickets are sold out but tickets will be available at the door. $30 gets you into the event, and includes 5 food tokens. There will be food and beer available for purchase at the event. The event takes place at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, near Don Mills and Eglinton.

Have a fabulous weekend!

thirsty thursday: brakeman’s session

I mentioned that this past Sunday was the second Detox to Retox at Junction Brewery. As we wrapped up our class, Sean from Junction Brewery had beer waiting for us. We had two choices. I went with the Brakeman’s Session Ale.

This is one of their regulars, which is always available at the store and at many LCBOs around the GTA. It is available at their brewery in bottles on tap when they’re open for tasting. It was a crisp and refreshing beer and tasted so good after yoga. It is very flavourful and has a great finish. It had a nice malty taste, and not too hoppy, just the way I like it. Can’t wait to crack open my 1L this weekend!

Have you tried Junction Brewery’s beer?

Taking off the day with #GarnierSensitive

I was provided a sample of Garnier Clean+. When I first saw the product, I assumed it was another face cleanser, good thing I actually read the label! It said to apply to my face and remove with cotton or water and it would remove all my make up, including waterproof mascara.

I don’t wear a ton of makeup (I usually call it “don’t scare the villagers” amount) but my daily makeup includes concealer, bb cream, eye shadow, mascara and bronzer. I usually find that even when I take my makeup off at night, I usually have to take more off in the morning. So, I did as instructed, rubbed the product all over my face including my eyes. And I really rubbed my eyes, making sure to get all of the mascara and it didn’t sting my eyes (unlike another makeup remover, who shall remain nameless). The product smells really fresh and clean and it feels great on my face. I hate greasy/oily makeup remover and this product doesn’t leave a gross residue behind.

I’ve only used the product for a few days but I love the feeling of my skin so far (which has been so sad and dry this winter). I also found it remove makeup really well. I would recommend this product if you’re looking for a new makeup remover.

Have you seen Garnier Clean+ yet? Have you tried it yet?

detox to retox: part two

This past weekend, I hosted the 2nd Detox to Retox with Schoolhouse Booze at the Junction Brewery and it was fantastic! In case you missed my last post, basically we start with a yoga class in the brewery and move on to beer tasting.

I really wanted to do this post just to say thank you to Sean from Junction Brewery and our awesome teacher Marnie. If you haven’t been to Junction Brewery, they’re open every weekend selling beer. They also host a ton of events at their space and you can find them at events around the city. Their beer is also available across the city and at a few LCBOs.

learning about beer

Sean was super informative. We tried a few beers and took a litre growler home with us. Junction Brewery knows how to treat us yogis! I’m not sure there’s a more beautiful site than lines of beers waiting for you at the end of a class. Namaste indeed.

feeling refreshed!

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came out this weekend! We’ll be hosting another one in the near future a different brewery and I promise to keep you posted. Big thank you to Sean and Marnie and of course the lovely ladies over at SchoolHouse Booze, be sure to check out their site, they’ve got another event coming up in a couple of weeks.
